Average teenager has never met
quarter of Facebook friends
Summary: The
article is about 12-15 year olds never talking or meeting their friends on
social networking sites; and girls are worse then boys due to having more
internet access… teenagers also spend at least 17 hours per week on the
internet through many devices such as computer, phones and tablets. As there has been an 50% rise in Smartphone ownership
among teenagers which means parents are having a hard time keeping up and
understand how they can protect their children.
Opinion: I think that social networking sites such as
Facebook should allow parents of teenagers to check their Facebook at least 2-3
weeks, and it should be a law. Even though
parents should have their children on their own Facebook to monitor their
profile pages.

Feminism Homework
Sexist
stereotypes dominate front pages of British newspapers, research finds
Summary &
Opinion:
The article doesn't agree with the post feminism as
it is going against Mc Robbie theory that women are empowered by men as it
quotes that ‘Male journalist wrote 78% of all front page articles in which
means there are only 32% of women journalist who get to write and research the
good articles. They also show the duchess of Cambridge and her sister to be
sexy or wanting a man, they also show Madeline McCann to be shown as a
vulnerable, young girl but they always show men in the positive light as they
show Simon Cowell as a successful business man publishing his biography and Nicolas
Sarkozy who was fighting an election; they don’t show men in a vulgar light. In
which socially constructs gender roles to be more traditional and women are
only sexually objectified.
Why science and engineering toys aren't for girls
Summary & Opinion
Isn't a good example of post feminism as it doesn't support but goes against Mc Robbie theory but does imitate Butlers ideas of gender roles are ‘a
performance’ and they are socially constructed as shops such as Morrison are
telling parents to buy more toys like kitchens, or prams for girls so they can
replicate a young housewife as a young child by parents had persuade me and my
sister to want to play with Barbie dolls in which turn me to playing with more
boy like toys and even dressing up as a boy. They had made my brothers play
with toys such as cars and sport related toys which makes them interested in competition.

BBC World News blocked
in Syria
Summary:
BBC world news is being blocked in Syria due to BBC violating the
international TV regulations, but is unclear who blocked it and it is happening
deliberately as was spoken by Jon Williams, a corporation’s foreign editor. The interferences have happened since Wednesday
to many other broadcasters as well. It is happening due to the uprising of the President
Bashar al-Assad as it is Syria is
becoming a more dangerous and risky country day by day. In a fortnight a lot of people have been
killed as pro-government TV station and a Ukrainian Journalist working for a Russian
outlet.
Opinion:
My opinion of the BBC being blocked is that they have been blocked
as they may have found some vulnerable information out in which the new
president didn't want getting out and as the president will find it to be more dangerous
if it got out as it will ruin his image.

Learners Response to Daily mail article opening ceremony
LR: Look again at the opening ceremony. What is your point regarding technology? How does it link to post-colonial theory? You mention Fanon but not how it relates to the text - what is your point here? Does the text reinforce or challenge Fanon's theory?
The Opening Ceremony: positive representation
The Opening Ceremony: positive representation
- Black people and white people mixing together and growing over the years
- Technology is grown over the years and this helps us to be more globalised in which we integrate with other cultures this helps us have a more positive representation as we learn about more cultures
- Franz - black people wearing white mask as they are living in mixed house of black and white may pressurise them to act white as they want to feel like they belong but the white people could be wearing a black mask as they may excluded in the family in which the children will have to act black and white

To what extent do you agree with Rosin's hypothesis
that women are taking over
modern society? Give examples in your response.
Agree with Hanna Rosin article as her hypothesis is true as she believes that women are taking over the world, due to the fact of recession and many men losing their job yet women being able to keep their jobs show that women are more likely to graduate from college as men as they represented to be "compassionate" and "self-sufficient", "individualistic" and "adaptable" for example the siporeian prime minster who is a women who doesn’t relie on any man to fulfil her duty
Can we find examples in modern media that support Rosin's suggestion that women are taking charge? You may wish to argue the opposite - that men still dominate the media scene.
In music videos, as Lady
gaga uses her own body in her music and she portray men as being useless and lazy
since she is an independent women who is making money for herself and she is proud of
herself.
Media Guardian Aritcle ANGRY BIRDS!!!
Angry Birds games have 200m monthly active players
Summary:
Rovio entertainment announced that angry bird games
have been downloaded 1 billion times, but only 200 million users play the game.
In which compared to their rival market zynga has 306 million users actively playing
as they have partner up with Facebook, the Executive vice president of Rovio entertainment
will like to partner up with Lucas films who produce star wars in which they
are going to release a ‘Angry birds star wars’ as they are massive fans of Star
wars at the company. The company is also trying to do more apps like angry
birds but with other animals such as pigs which are called “Bad Piggies”
focused on the pigs not the birds. So they are building their franchise to
become bigger and better than any rival company of now or the future.
Opinion
As a user of the app (angry birds), I believe that Rovio entertainment is a largely popular app as it has many users from all over the world so it very globalised in which it supports Mcluhans theory of a global village. Also I think that partnering with another company such as Lucasfilms Allows them to be more popular and increases their target audience. :)

Samsung Electronics also made money in the London 2012 Olympics from marketing/advertising as it was a major sponsor They are getting more money as they have reduced orders of chips and screens for their rival company, Apple.
Opnion:
In my opinion I believe that Samsung is a well known company due to the fact that they are based in various technology even though, I prefer Samsung products to Apples products as my experience with Samsung is better and more trustworthy. also I think that reducing selling screens and chips to Apple, allows them to have a increase in sales overall due to having the best quality of product

Representation of race and ethnicity
POST COLONIALIST THEORY:
The Guardian: Negative representation
The Opening Ceremony: positive representation
The Guardian: Negative representation
- 'This was supported to be representation of modern life in England but it is likely to be a challenge for the organisers to find an educated white middle- aged mother and black father living together with a happy family in such a set-up'. As Black fathers leave their wives as soon as they get pregnant and represents that black men cant have a education, this connects with alvardo theory as it falls in to the category of humorous and pitied.
The Opening Ceremony: positive representation
- Black people and white people mixing together and growing over the years
- Technology is grown over the years and
- Franz - black people wearing white mask, mixed race children.
